It’s been a minute since I have had time to sit down & write to you all! Life has been so crazy with the work schedule & the holidays upon us. Some days, I finally make it to bed, only to wonder where the day went & why I couldn’t get more done. Who is with me on that?

The time of year has come for everyone to start thinking about their resolutions, a time to reflect on this year & make our vast claims for the coming one. I try not get too caught up in the wish making & such. Maybe being the realist that I am, has me not wanting to set myself up for failure. I do however, make goals!

One goal on my list this year is to book elopements! I recently had a very intimate wedding that I was able to shoot in stunning Boca Grande & it had me dreaming of the elopement side of wedding photography. There is just something about taking the day at the bride & grooms pace. I fell in love with the relaxed feel to their day & being able to spend so much one on one time with the bride & groom was such a treat!

I will be blogging their wedding in the coming weeks & I am buzzing with excitement to share it with you all! (My favorite wedding to date!) Keep your eyes peeled for that stunning wedding soon!

As far as goals go, I am always thinking of new ones when it comes to KSP, I feel like my list never stops growing. One thing I have learned though, is to choose one and hyper focus on it. That is where elopement photography falls this year, look out 2019, I am coming for all the intimate wedding feels! From the details to first kiss, I want them all!

When it comes down to it, I want to push myself to do more photography that makes me smile. As I go through the images form the wedding in Boca Grande, all I can do is smile. I leave my desk with sore cheeks from all the smiling I do. That is due to loving what I have captured & I want it no other way.

What is your goal for the coming year? Do you have a certain business goal? A personal achievement you want to accomplish? Share it with me in a comment, I would love to hear from you!

XOXO- Kandice Story

Maddilyn Has Arrived

September 21st, we welcomed our Maddilyn to the world & it’s been a whirlwind since!

This was my first experience with being induced & the day of, I was a nervous wreck! Jason & I didn’t sleep well the night before, just anticipating what was to come the following day. We got up the morning of her birthday fully aware we were going to change the dynamic of our family again. The short ride to the hospital was filled with anxious hope for a quick delivery & healthy baby, I remember thinking to myself, “The next time I am in this car, I will be going home with a baby in the backseat.”

After stopping by McDonald’s to get in one last meal before delivery, we arrived at the hospital. As we walked up to the building that would be holding our new baby soon, Jason said a prayer for us all & we walked in. We headed to room 205 & began prepping for Maddilyn to join us. I was so shocked at how fast things moved once we got settled in the room! The hospital staff was amazing, getting things done & making sure both baby & I were taken care of during our stay.

The time arrived & pushing began, Maddilyn made her way into the world an hour later & was placed right on my chest. Things never really change when welcoming new life, it is overwhelming, perfect, scary & dream like. I remember just looking up at Jason as we both cried over the blessing we had just received. I think we cried more than Maddi did!

After being weighed, measured & checked, we were able to love on her again & invited family into the room to meet our conclusion to the Story family. Safe to say that they were smitten! Ezra & Kensington love their new sister & are adjusting well to life with a newborn. I love watching them wake up in the morning & ask to see their baby! Maddi has no idea how loved she is when it comes to her siblings.

Since coming home, we are trying to learn our new groove with Maddi. She is such a good baby, never bothered by her loud brother & sister running through the house. She completes us in ways we didn’t know needed completing & we are so thankful for her presence here in our home.

The images below are some of the images I was able to capture when family came in to meet Maddi. (aside from the ones I am in haha! Thanks Mom!)

We are only 3 weeks out from meeting our newest little girl! Time sure has flown with this pregnancy, I feel like we just found out we were expecting last week. I think thats what happens when you're caught up with a family & a business!

Thankfully, we were able to carve out some time for Jason & I to get maternity pictures taken by another talented photographer in our area a couple weeks ago. I love how they turned out & learned just how nerve-racking it can be, being the one in front of the camera! I had no idea y'all! But it really made me glad for clients who trust me with their images & allow me to make them comfortable during our sessions together.

In these last few weeks before #3 joins us, I have sessions to edit, sessions to shoot & a space to make for baby. (Am I last minute with the baby stuff or what?) When I think of all that needs to be done before baby comes, I am not overwhelmed but instead, I find myself a little sad to be slowing down with photography for the month of September. I can't stand being stagnant in my work, so slowing down even if only for a month, is not something I have looked forward to.

I am looking forward to completing our family with this little one & sharing the adorable newness with you all in the weeks to come! Our doctor appointments are weekly now, so things are getting real for the Story household. I have begun to get all of Kensi's newborn clothes washed & ready to go & have been pleasantly surprised by how much I have missed little onesies floating around the house. It means more laundry, but at least its cute?

We are so excited to introduce our littlest rainbow baby to you all soon but in the meantime, enjoy a look at our maternity session done by Chelsea Whetsel Photography.
